Coach Bombino will enter his 14th season as head coach of the Lords men's soccer program and 9th season at the helm of the indoor program. The Whitby resident has been involved with several high profile organizations, including the Whitby Iroquois soccer club, head coach of the former Durham Flames of the Canadian Professional Soccer League, and extensive coaching certification in Ontario via the Ontario Soccer Association.

In addition to his work with the Lords, Coach Bombino is the Technical Director and Club Head Coach for the Peterborough City Soccer Association. He is National Licensed Coach in Canada and involved in the development of coaches through out Ontario as a coaching instructor with the Ontario Soccer Association.

Having played and starred for the Lords during his college days, Bombino brings a great deal of experience and history to the program. He led the entire OCAA in scoring in 1977-78 with 13 goals, becoming the first ever scoring champion in Durham College history.

Under Coach Bombino's guidance and strong supporting cast, the Lords remain a constant contender in the OCAA. The outdoor program has won 17 Divisional Championships; 19 championship medals and three Ontario championships (1980, 1988 & 1997).

The team has also continually made an impact at the National level: winning two National medals and placing in the top four in Canada four times.

In 2008, coach Bombino racked up his 100th win as Lords head coach. Overall, Bombino has compiled an overall record of 106-51-14 and a conference record of 71-30-9.

The 2010 season featured a number of highlights for the Durham Lords. The team finished with an overall record of 6-5-1 and a conference record of 4-3-1, their 17th straight season with a .500 or better record. Finishing in the top four of the OCAA east region, Durham also hosted a postseason game. The Lords also defeated UOIT to win their second straight campus cup.

2011 looks bright for the Men's Soccer team, with some big expectations for next season as over half the team is eligible to return along with some top recruits.

Mario Bombino -14th Year
Assistant Coach

Coach Mario will be entering his 14th season with the program as head assistant under his brother. The two work excellent together on the sidelines and away from the field in identifying talent. Mario's dedication to the Lords soccer program is evident on a daily basis; he has gained the respect of the student-athletes over the years by his outstanding resume of coaching success in the soccer world and his first class effort with the team.

Over the last several years, Bombino Mario has been actively involved in the development of women's soccer in Ontario and Canada. He has also been associated with the Canadian National Women's team in the capacity of scouting and identifying high calibre players for our National Women's Program.

Bombino also had the opportunity to coach in an exhibition match against the Canadian National women's soccer team in preparation for the World Cup, which included four members of the Durham College women's soccer team.

In 2009, Bombino coached the Woodbridge Azzurri women's soccer club who represented Canada as they took part in an international tournament that saw them do battle against teams representing England, Belgium, Italy and Norway.

Evan Bombino
Assistant Coach - 2nd Year

Bombino is entering his second year of the men's soccer coaching staff with the role of the teams strength and conditioning coach. He was born and raised in the Durham region and played soccer in the GTA at the provincial level with Whitby, Woodbridge and OSL Regional Champions Peterborough City. He brings to the Lords a vast amount of knowledge and experience in the area of strength and conditioning and will be expecting a lot from the players this year as fitness is a key factor the Lords style of play. Bombino has trained all levels of athletes including professional and collegiate level. His experience in athletics and certification as a Certified CrossFit Trainer, Level 3 Certified Soccer Coach and Movement and Mobility Specialist will allow the players to excel as better athletes and be the most fit/strongest in order to compete for a championship at the OCAA level.

 

Vasco Jeronimo
Goalkeeper Coach - 11th Year

Vasco has been the goalkeeper coach at Durham College for the last decade. With plenty of coaching experience under his belt, he has also been instrumental in the advancement of goalkeepers in the Durham Region as he is the Durham Region Soccer Association District Player Development Coach. As a goalkeeper coach, he brings a great deal of experience to the team and an overwhelming enthusiasm when working with the players. He is a very dedicated individual who has contributed greatly to the team's success
