DURHAM IS THE KING OF THE DIAMOND AT QUEEN’S UNIVERSITY

OSHAWA, Ont. –
The Durham Lords men’s baseball team (2-0 conference, 4-0 overall) opened up conference play in Kingston on Saturday as they met the Queen’s University Golden Gaels for an afternoon doubleheader. Queen’s had a tough time controlling the Lords bats in both games as Durham won game one 11-0 and game two 20-4.

In four games this season, Durham has outscored their opponents 51-9 including a pair of exhibition games against the University of Toronto Varsity Blues. The Lords will look to continue their winning ways as they meet the Queen’s again for another doubleheader on Sunday afternoon in Kingston.

The Lord’s conference home opener will be on Saturday, September 13 as St. Clair College visits Kinsmen Stadium for a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
 
GAME ONE SUMMARY

Durham defeated Queen’s 11-0

With the teams playing the first two innings to a scoreless draw, Durham broke things wide open in the third and fourth inning with a total of eleven runs. Lords pitcher Julian Daligadu was able to put it into cruise control as he shutout the Golden Gaels for five innings to record his first win of the season. Daligadu earned the shutout allowing only two hits while striking out six.

GAME TWO SUMMARY

Durham defeated Queen’s 20-4

Game two of the doubleheader was much of the same as the Durham Lords cruised to a 20-4 victory. The Durham bats were on fire as they put up 19 hits and 20 runs in the contest.

Craig MeGill was perfect at the plate going 3-for-3 with three runs and a pair of RBI’s. Veteran pitcher Gary Rose picked up the win for Durham holding the Gaels to two earned runs in five innings while striking out a total of eight batters.
