LORDS COMPLETE THE SWEEP OVER U OF T IN PRESEASON BASEBALL ACTION
Men’s Baseball: Durham defeated University of Toronto 6-3
TORONTO, Ont. – The Durham Lords baseball team (2-0 overall, 0-0 conference) picked up their second win in as many nights over the University of Toronto as they defeated the Varsity Blues 6-3 in preseason action on Wednesday night.
Chris Jones of the Lords went 2-for-4 with a RBI while Dan Alayon was 2-for-3 with two runs and a RBI. On the mound, Julian Daligadu pitched three strong innings for Durham as he allowed only one hit while striking out seven U of T batters.
Lords head coach Sam Dempster was impressed with his team’s performance over the preseason but is not looking too far ahead leading into the regular season, “The last two games against U of T was a decent start to the season however reality comes to play on Saturday and Sunday when we head to Kingston.”
Durham will open up conference action on the road as they travel to Kingston to play the Queen’s University Golden Gaels on September 6-7 for back-to-back doubleheaders.
The Lord’s home opener will take place on Saturday, September 13 against St. Clair College. The teams will meet for a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. at Kinsmen Stadium.
