Durham women’s soccer wins their season opener
OCAA Women’s Soccer: Durham defeated Fleming 2-0
PETERBOROUGH, Ont. – The Durham College women’s soccer team earned a 2-0 win over the Fleming Knights on Tuesday night in their 2011 OCAA season opener.
After a scoreless first half, Durham College athlete of the week Tara Farias (Courtice, Ont.) got the Lords on the board scoring at the 65 minute mark, her first career OCAA goal. Jenn Sheehan (Whitby, Ont.) recorded an assist on the play.
With only five minutes left on the clock, Durham put the game away as Laura Ogle (Oshawa, Ont.) scored her first goal in a Lords uniform. Heather MacDonald of Ajax picked up an assist.
Goalkeeper Melissa Linton (Cobourg, Ont.) recorded the shutout for Durham.
This was Fleming’s first loss of the season, as they defeated Loyalist 1-0 in their season opener.
Durham will now host St. Lawrence (Friday) and Algonquin (Saturday) at Vaso’s Field.
