CCAA Golf Championship Final Results – Durham College Summary
Women’s Team – Gold
Tiffany Albath – Bronze (Individual)
Kayleigh Kraemer – Fourth Place (Individual)
David Lang – Fourth Place (Individual)
ROSENEATH, P.E.I. - Durham College won their second straight women’s golf national title on Friday at the 2011 PING Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Golf National Championship in Prince Edward Island.
Tiffany Albath and Kayleigh Kraemer combined for a total score of 327, eight strokes better than Georgian's team of Nicole Belcourt and Jasmine Paton to win the national championship.
Immediately after signing her scorecard, Kraemer was visibly excited and talked about repeating as CCAA Champions.
“I’m really happy right now,” said Kraemer.
“This was my last CCAA Championship so it feels very good to finish with a win. It was windy today and that made it pretty tough. I played pretty solid, just a few mistakes and a tough double- bogey on 15. Winning is what’s most important. As I said, I’m very happy,” added Kraemer.
Albath's consecutive rounds of nine-over 81 gave her a two-day total of 162, good for third place in the women's individual competition. The 2011 OCAA women's champion earned a national bronze medal to go with her silver she won last year. Josee Doyon of Champlain St. Lawrence in Quebec won the CCAA women's individual title with a remarkable two-day total of 148, fourteen shots better than Albath.
Kramer finished out of individual medal contention in fourth place with rounds of 84 and 83 totalling 165, three shots behind her Durham teammate. Kramer won national bronze last year, and is a three-time OCAA medalist.
Kraemer and Albath have combined to win five CCAA national championship medals in the past two years.
On the men’s side, David Lang finished in a tie for fourth place, with a two day total of 149. Lang finished one stroke out of a podium finish as Mathieu Arsenault of Holland College was in third place at 148. Adrian Cord of Humber College won the national title with a two day total of 140.
Durham finished in sixth place in the team competition, 15 strokes behind Fraser Valley who won bronze. Humber repeated as champions with a combined score of 296.
Other Durham individual results included Sean Perkins (T31), Kyle Roy (T35), Adam Miller (T40) and David Pinkerton (53).
The 2011 PING CCAA Golf National Championships were hosted by Holland College at the Brudenell River Golf Course in Roseneath, P.E.I.
