Top volleyball teams heading to Durham College for the Adidas Cup
It is a big week for Durham College varsity sports with five major events taking place. The Lords baseball and golf teams are heading out East to take part in their respective national championships while Durham College is playing host to the OCAA fastball women’s championship and men’s volleyball Adidas Cup. The women’s soccer team is preparing for their OCAA quarterfinal match-up this weekend.
ADIDAS CUP MEN’S VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT PREVIEW
OSHAWA, Ont. – Durham College is proud to host the 2011 Adidas Cup men’s volleyball tournament, which will take place at the CRWC from October 21-22.
Eight of the top teams in the OCAA will look to win the prestigious title. The tournament field includes Durham (Oshawa, Ont.), Fleming (Peterborough, Ont.), Humber (Etobicoke, Ont.), Loyalist (Belleville, Ont.), Mohawk (Hamilton, Ont.), Niagara (Welland, Ont.), Seneca (North York, Ont.) and Trent (Peterborough, Ont.).
Friday will feature round robin action beginning at 1 p.m. The Lords will be up against the Niagara Knights in the opening game of the tournament, followed up with a match against Humber at 6 p.m. The Lords final round robin game will take place on Saturday morning at 9 a.m. against the Fleming Knights.
The championship game is scheduled for Saturday at 5 p.m.
Humber enters the championship as the three time defending champions, as they defeated Seneca 3-2 in last year’s finals. The Lords finished in fourth place, losing to Mohawk in the bronze medal game.

Seneca vs. Loyalist – 11 a.m.
5th Place Game - 3rd Pool A vs. 3rd Pool B – 1 p.m.
7th Place Game - 4th Pool A vs. 4th Pool B – 1 p.m.
3rd Place Game - 2nd Pool A vs. 2nd Pool B – 3 p.m.
Championship Final – 1st Pool A vs. 1st Pool B – 5 p.m.
