Durham College women’s basketball team collects toys for the SickKids Foundation
-Home Opener tonight-
OSHAWA, Ont. – The Durham College women’s basketball team is encouraging fans to donate toys at the remaining Lords home games in 2011 as they are holding their fourth annual toy drive in support of the SickKids Foundation.
The Lords have three remaining home games in 2011 and want to collect as many toys as possible to deliver to the SickKids Foundation in time for the holiday season.
The games will be taking place on Friday, November 18 (vs. Algonquin at 6 p.m.), Friday, December 2 (vs. George Brown at 6 p.m.), and Tuesday, December 6 (vs. Loyalist at 6 p.m.). All games are at the CRWC and are followed by men’s basketball action.
The SickKids Foundation has compiled a list recommended items for the holiday toy drive to assist participants in focusing on gifts that are necessary. Four different groups that have been targeted for the drive are: infants, toddlers/preschool, school age and teenagers. Infants and teens are being focused on as they are listed as the highest priorities.
The SickKids Foundation is the largest non-governmental granting agency in child health in Canada. SickKids have invested the community's contributions in world-leading children's health research and care and believe there is no one else in Canada as dedicated as they are to eliminating the gap between what is happening in child health research, education and training, and what should be happening.
On behalf of the Durham Lords women’s basketball team, we would like to thank you for your support and wish you a safe and happy holiday season. For more information on the toy drive, you can contact head coach Tim Baulk at tim.baulk@durhamcollege.ca.
