Dempster receives the EBCA Career Achievement Award

PRAGUE - The European Baseball Coaches Association (EBCA) announced that Durham College baseball head coach Sam Dempster is the recipient of the 2011 EBCA Career Achievement Award.

Dempster is also the head coach of the Great Britain national team and a coach in the MLB envoy program.

EBCA ARTICLE:
The Irish-born Canadian is a highly competitive coach who achieved a high level of success in his country recording only one losing season during his 20 years tenure as the head coach of the Durham College Lords (Ontario).

He led the British National Team to a win over Israel in the 2011 European qualifier, which allowed Great Britain to move on to the European Championship in September 2012.

More than anything, coach Dempster has been very involved at various levels of European baseball and has given a lot to the programs he visited through the years, giving the best of him for the growth of the game.

Pat Doyle, a former college coach from California, himself very active in international baseball described him with these words: Sam is a true warrior - a man in the trenches - of the trenches. A tremendously passionate man - extremely ethical - a gifted teacher and coach who does the right thing for the GAME.

It was an honour for the staff and members of the EBCA to have Sam Dempster to make the trip to Prague and receive his award personally despite a very busy schedule.

Congratulations to Sam Dempster, 2011 EBCA Career Achievement Award winner. And good luck for the challenges ahead.
