OCAA ALL-MILLENNIUM GOLF TEAM HONOURED
TORONTO - The Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) honoured its all-millennium golf team on Wednesday evening as part of its Hall of Fame Gala at the Fairmont Royal York in Toronto.
Each member of the team was also part of the OCAA Hall of Fame inductee class of 2011.
Pat Gavey - Mohawk (1989-1992)
- Led Mohawk to an OCAA team championship in 1991
- OCAA silver and bronze individual medalist
Ryan Hughes* - Durham (1988-1992)
- Led Durham to the school’s first-ever OCAA championship
- Record four individual OCAA golf medals from 1988 to 1992
Steve Irving* - Georgian (1981-1984)
- Won three straight men’s individual titles from 1981 to 1983
- Shot a 36-hole score of 147 in 1983
Angela MacDonald - Humber (1998-2000)
- OCAA individual women’s champion in 1998 and 1999
- Two-sport athlete for Humber (women’s soccer)
Dan McNeely - Humber (1997-1999)
- Member of the 1997 OCAA men’s championship team
- All-Ontario golf team member in 1997 and 1998
Gabe Rapini - Seneca (1986-1988)
- Won back-to-back OCAA individual titles in 1986 and 1987
- Member of Seneca’s OCAA championship team in 1987
Dave Storoschuk - Mohawk (1977-1979)
- Led Mohawk to an OCAA team championship in 1978
- Two-time OCAA silver individual medalist
Patrick Treude - Humber (1996-1998)
- Led Humber to back-to-back team championships in 1996 and 1997
- Won back-to-back men’s individual titles that same period
*Both Hughes and Irving were previously inducted in the OCAA Hall of Fame as athletes in 2003.
The OCAA Hall of Fame is dedicated to the recognition of extraordinary contributions and accomplishments within collegiate sports in Ontario. Honoured members include athletes, coaches and builders of the association. This year, 39 new members were recognized in the fifth OCAA Hall of Fame ceremony.
The OCAA Hall of Fame was established in 2003. That year, 265 people attended the inaugural induction ceremony in Toronto to pay tribute to the first 103 inductees and celebrate the OCAA’s rich history. The Hall has expanded to 297 members in 2011.
