Lords swept by the OCAA east region leading Golden Shield

OCAA Women’s Volleyball – Cambrian defeated Durham 3-0 (25-17, 25-11, 25-18)

OSHAWA, Ont. – The Durham College women’s volleyball team could not pull off an upset on Sunday as they were swept 3-0 by the Cambrian Golden Shield. Set scores were 25-17, 25-11 and 25-18.

OCAA leading scorer Shawna Metcalf of the Golden Shield led all scorers in the match with 11 points. Metcalf entered weekend play averaging 4.7 points per set.

Jenn Sheehan (Oshawa, Ont.) did her best to control Cambrian’s power hitters as she came up with a team high 13 digs. Newcomer to the Lords line-up Colleen McRobert (Whitby, Ont.) led Durham with seven points including four blocks.

The loss puts an end to Durham’s two game winning streak while the Golden Shield improve to 12-0.

Durham (4-8) will look to get back in the win column on Wednesday night as they travel to Peterborough to take on the Trent Excalibur (9-2). Game time is at 6 p.m.
