Durham College in the hunt at the University/College Golf Championship

Fredericton, N.B. ­ Durham College had an impressive opening round at the
University/College Golf Championship hosted by Golf Canada which taking
place at Kingswood Park in Fredericton, N.B.

The Lords are in the chase for the championship after totalling an opening
day round of 303, just 14 shots behind the Université de Montréal who are in
first place with a total of 289.

Leading the way for Durham was Brad Hickey, who shot one-over par (73) to
sit in 14th place, four shots off the pace. Don Shaw carded a four-over par
(76) while Rob Lewis and Robbie Untinen each shot five-over par (77)
respectively. Montréal teammates Philippe-André Bannon (Montreal) and Benoit
Gordon are leading the field after shooting 3-under par (69).

³After two great practice rounds, the team carried their momentum into
today¹s action,² said head coach Mike Duggan. ³It was a good start to the
tournament and we hope to build off of today¹s performance.²

Durham will look to continue their strong play on Tuesday and Wednesday as
after the conclusion of round three, the field will be reduced to the top 10
men¹s and the top five women¹s teams, as well as any individuals within 15
strokes of the lead.

The Lords will tee off at 9 a.m. on Tuesday morning for round two action. A
