Durham College women’s basketball adds size to the lineup
OSHAWA, Ont. - Durham College women's basketball head coach Tim Baulk is pleased to announce the addition of Laura Pacevicius (Toronto, Ont.) to the program for the 2010-11 season.
“I am excited about the possibilities with Laura in the lineup,” said Baulk. “She is the missing link and I am looking for her leadership to bring the team to the medal round.”
"I am looking forward to this up-coming season with the coaching staff and teammates,” said Pacevicius. “I am thrilled to finish my basketball career in green and gold as a Durham Lord. I hope to contribute to the team's successes this season."
Pacevicius joins Durham College coming off a stellar four year career with the Laurier Golden Hawks of the OUA, after graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
A 5'11 post player, Pacevicius has a long list of accolades playing with Laurier. In her freshman season, she was named Laurier's rookie of the year, as the Golden Hawks advanced to the OUA West championship. In 2007-08, she finished third in OUA rebounding and seventh in the country averaging 8.8 rebounds per game. In 2008-09, she was named the team's co-captain.
Pacevicius finished her OUA career averaging 21.4 minutes, 6.4 points and 5.6 rebounds per game. She recorded a career high 22 points against McMaster and 16 rebounds against Western during the 2007-08 season.
Prior to joining Laurier, Pacevicius played high school basketball at Holy Trinity in Oakville where she was named the 2005 athlete of the year.
Pacevicius is taking the Sports Business Management graduate certificate program at Durham College.
