Coach Duggan at the World Championship: Canada picks up best result since 2006

ANTEQUER, Spain - Durham College golf head coach Mike Duggan represented Team Canada at the 13th FISU world university golf championship in Antequera, Spain, from June 7 to 11, 2010 as an assistant coach.

Team Canada Report – Final Results

The Canadian men's golf team finished in fifth place at the FISU world university golf championship taking place in Spain . It was the team's best result at the world championship since 2006, where team Canada , led by Durham College standout Will Mitchell, finished in fourth place. Mitchell finished in eighth place individually at the 2006 games.

The Canadians finished with a four round total of 881, just eight strokes back of a podium finish. Korea won the championship with a team total of 869, followed by Japan (872) and Spain (873).

Garrett Rank of the University of Waterloo was the top Canadian, finishing in tenth place with a final score of five-over par. Gerard Piris Mateu of Spain won the championship with a final score of seven-under par.

On the women's side, team Canada finished in eighth place. Anne Balser of the University of Victoria was 12 th place, 13 strokes out of medal contention.
