Suspension of play called on second round at Kingswood Park
Fredericton, N.B. (Golf Canada) – The second round of the 2010 Canadian University/College Championship has been suspended due to weather restrictions and will resume Wednesday at 7 a.m. (ADT).
The horn was blown at 2:22 p.m. today to signal the suspension of play called by the officials at Kingswood Park . The rain which worsened during the lunch hour resulted in the decision to evacuate players from the course. Less than two hours later, the course had become unplayable and play was suspended.
With only partial scoring in for day two, the men's team division and individual competition are not complete. Players remaining on the course will return to their positions in the morning. The third round will tee off at approximately 10:30 a.m.
Of the players that managed to complete their first rounds, Matthew Courchene of Queen's University and Laurentian University's Matthew Bortolloto are tied for the lead at 145, 1 over par.
In the women's division the University of British Columbia holds strong to their lead of 602, twenty strokes ahead of second place University of Victoria with a team total of 622. The University of Calgary sits in third spot at 673.
Due to weather, the long-drive competition final has been cancelled.
