Durham remains undefeated with a 4-1 win over La Cite

Women’s Soccer: Durham defeated La Cite 4-1

OSHAWA, Ont.
– Despite having their five game shutout streak snapped on Saturday afternoon, the nationally ranked Durham College women's soccer team came away with a win as they defeated the La Cite Coyotes 4-1 to improve to 6-0-0 on the season.

The Lords jumped ahead early in the match off the foot of Jenn Sheenan ( Whitby, Ont.) who scored Durham's first two goals, giving Durham a 2-0 halftime lead.

In a fairly even second half, Stephanie Macleod of La Cite managed to put one past Durham goalkeeper Morgan Kelly (Oshawa, Ont.), marking the Lords first goal against of the season. Durham would not be phased and put the game away as Laura Copeland (Newmarket, Ont.) and Taryn Nicholson (Newcastle, Ont.) scored second half goals to give the Lords a 4-1 victory.

For the first time all year, Katie Watts (Oshawa, Ont.) and Brianna Heard (Bowmanville, Ont.) were left off the scoring summary, ending their consecutive scoring streak at five games.

With the win, Durham keeps pace with Seneca College at 6-0-0 for first place in the Central East Region. The top ranked teams will square off on Tuesday night in North York, before returning back to Vaso's Field for a rematch on Sunday, October 4 at 12 p.m.
