Kramer wins the DC Open claiming her second tournament title of the year

BROOKLIN, Ont. – Kayleigh Kramer (Germany) of the Durham College golf team earned her second consecutive women’s individual title of the season as she shot a blistering round of 79 to win the DC Open at Lakeridge Links.

In only two tournaments this season, Kramer has solidified herself as an OCAA championship contender winning both individual titles at the events. This past weekend, the Lords freshman also won the Fanshawe Invitational crown, shooting a final score of 84.

In Monday’s DC Open, Kramer finished well ahead of the pack as the second place finisher, Leanna Stoppa of Georgian College shot a round of 86, seven strokes back. Stoppa and her teammate Alysa Defoe won the women’s team title for the Grizzlies.

On the men’s side, Durham College finished in third place with a final score of 313, earning their second podium finish of the season. The defending OCAA champion Humber Hawks took home their second straight DC Open team title after finishing with a combined score of 310. Niagara finished in second place at 313.

Brad Hickey had the low round of the day for Durham College finishing in third place individually after shooting a score of 75. Niagara’s Chris Hargest was the men’s individual champion with a score of 72.

Next Action for Durham golfers is Wednesday, September 23 in Welland, Ont. as the Lords take part in the Niagara College Invitational. The tournament will be held at Lochness Links.
