Durham remains undefeated in 2009

Men’s Soccer: Durham defeated Centennial 3-1

SCARBOROUGH, Ont. –
Stan Bombino has the Durham College men’s soccer team on a roll to begin the 2009 season as the Lords remained undefeated with a 3-1 victory over Centennial College in Scarborough.

The Lords are 3-0-1 in conference play and 4-0-1 overall while sitting in first place in the Central East region with 10 points. Durham will have to continue their winning ways if they hope to remain in the top spot of the region as Seneca is in second place at 2-0-0 while the George Brown Huskies are in third with a 1-0-1 record.

In Saturday’s game against the Colts, freshmen Agya Oppong-Kyekyeku (Etobicoke, Ont.), Sebastian Dignoti (Whitby, Ont.) and Chris Elliott (Oakville, Ont.) all scored for Durham in the win.

Dignoti now leads the province in scoring with seven goals to start his freshman campaign. The last time the OCAA league leading scorer was from Durham College was in 1988 when OCAA Hall of Famer Juan Carlos Camus led the province with 17 goals.

Goalkeeper Travis Perri (Cambridge, Ont.) picked up his third win of the year while averaging 1.50 goals per game.

The Lords will return home on Friday, September 25 to take on the defending OCAA champion Algonquin Thunder. Kick off for the big match is at 8 p.m.
