Lords shutout Queen’s to clinch a playoff position

Game Two – Durham defeated Queen’s 12-0

KINGSTON, Ont. – The Durham College baseball team picked up two shutout victories over Queen’s University on Saturday afternoon to clinch second place in the CIBA Ontario Conference standings and a trip to the semi-finals.

Durham was dominant in Kingston as they held Queen’s to only six hits over the two games, while scoring 21 runs of their own.

Starting pitcher Julian Daligadu notched his third consecutive victory for Durham, as he has gone 21 innings allowing only one run and 10 hits over that stretch. James Rowe picked up the win in game two, pitching six shutout innings while allowing only four hits.

The Lords bats continued to be hot as they have averaged 11.6 runs per game on their six game winning streak. In game one, Ethan Boston went 2-for-3 with two runs and three RBI’s while Dan Alayon went 3-for-4 with a run. Matt Yarmoluk was the standout in game two as he went 3-for-4 with three RBI’s and three runs scored.

The Lords will now close out their regular season with two more games against Queen’s on Sunday, October 4 at Kinsmen Memorial Stadium. First pitch is at 1 p.m.

The Lords will take on the York Lions in the CIBA Ontario conference semi-finals. Full details on the postseason will be released on www.durhamlords.com later on this week.
