Perfection for Durham College – Kayla MacLean throws a perfect game

Women’s Fastball – Durham defeated Conestoga 10-0
***Kayla MacLean pitches a perfect game

OSHAWA, Ont. – Kayla MacLean of the Durham College women’s fastball team pitched a perfect game on Sunday in the Lords 10-0 win over Conestoga College.

MacLean ( Whitby, Ont.) was untouchable on Sunday morning, sitting down 18 consecutive Condor batters, recording eight strikeouts enroute to the perfect game.

The 10-0 victory finishes off a 3-0 weekend for the Lords, which included two wins over the St. Clair Saints on Saturday. Durham improves to 8-1 in conference action and are now one win away from clinching their 12th regular season title in 13 years.

The Lords offence was not to be outdone by the defence on Sunday as Durham put up 10 runs over six innings of play.

Erin Dewey (Port Hope, Ont.) led the offensive attack going 4-for-4 at the plate, knocking in three RBI’s and scoring two runs. Erica Dewey was also perfect for Durham, going 2-for-2 with three runs and one RBI.

Samantha Roelofsen (Alma, Ont.) and Bailey Corneal (Whitby, Ont.) were both 2-for-3 at the plate.

Durham will be back in action on Tuesday, October 6 against the Seneca Sting (4-5) at Durham Field. First pitch is at 6:30 p.m. Durham is 2-0 against Seneca this season, with their first match going eight innings. It will be the Lords final home game of the 2009 season.

The Lords are also preparing for 2009 Canadian Intercollegiate Women's Fastpitch National Championship which will be taking place from October 10-12 at the Peter Hallman Ball Yard in Kitchener.
