Wild day at CIBA Nationals comes to an end – Durham advances to the semi-finals
OSHAWA, Ont. – Day two at the CIBA National baseball championship has come to an end, setting up a great final day of baseball action on Sunday beginning at 9 a.m.
At the end of round robin play, Durham, Cape Breton and Ottawa all advanced to the semi-final round with records of 2-1. St. Clair, Concordia and Western all finished at 1-2, and will have to play tie-breakers Sunday morning, with one team advancing to the semi-finals.
After a seventh inning comeback victory over the Concordia Stingers to end the day, Durham College booked their spot in the semi-finals where they will play Cape Breton University at 12 p.m. at Kirky Field in Pickering.
The other semi-final will take place at Kinsmen Memorial Stadium at 3 p.m., following two tie-breaker games. Western and St. Clair will play in the first tie-breaker game at 9 a.m., with the winner advancing to play Concordia in the second tie-breaker at 12 p.m. (tie breaking formula was used to determine the seeding for the matches). The winner of the second tie breaker game will meet Ottawa in the semi-finals schedule for 3 p.m.
