Lords baseball finishes in second place in Ontario

CIBA Ontario Finals (St. Clair wins series 2-0)
Game One – St. Clair defeated Durham 3-2
Game Two – St. Clair defeated Durham 8-3

WINDSOR, Ont. – In the CIBA Ontario conference championship, the Durham Lords baseball team were swept by the St. Clair Saints in the best of three series in Windsor. With the loss, Durham finishes in second place in Ontario , snapping their four year provincial winning streak.

Game one of the series was a tight match between the two teams with St. Clair picking up a 3-2 final inning comeback victory. Down 2-1 in the bottom of the seventh inning, the St. Clair bats would come alive as they would score two runs to claim game one.

Game two featured more offence with the teams combining for eight runs in the first two innings. Unfortunately for the Lords, St. Clair would score five of those runs to take an early 5-3 lead. The Saints would add on single runs in the third, fourth and six innings to go on to win by a final score of 8-3.

The CIBA Ontario finals appearance marked the 12 th straight year the Lords have advanced to the provincial finals.

Both Durham and St. Clair will now have their sights set on the CIBA National Championship, which will be hosted by Durham College from October 23-25. The entire championship schedule will be released on www.durhamlords.com/ciba later this week.
