Lords stung by Seneca in North York
Women’s Basketball: Seneca defeated Durham 73-44
NORTH YORK, Ont. – The Durham College women’s basketball team dropped a 73-44 decision to Seneca College on Friday night.
After getting out to a 3-0 start in conference play, the Lords have lost three of their last four games and sit in third place in the OCAA standings. Seneca has defeated Durham in ten straight games dating back to 2005, as they improve to 4-2 on the year with the one sided victory.
Rebounding was the name of the game on Friday as Seneca won the battle of the boards 63-32. The Lords also struggled from the field shooting only 28 per cent.
The Lords defence was absent as Seneca had their second highest offensive output of the season. Lauren Egglestone led the Sting with 16 points and 11 rebounds. Ruth Holland also picked up a double-double with ten points and ten rebounds.
Jessica Newton (Oshawa, Ont.) led the Lords offence with 14 points on the night while freshman Kelsey Hare (Whitby, Ont.) added eight points and five rebounds in the losing effort.
The Lords will be on the road next Friday when they take on St. Lawrence College in Kingston at 6 p.m. This will be Durham’s final game before heading into the holiday break.
