McGarrity leads Durham College to victory over Seneca
Men’s Basketball: Durham defeated Seneca 72-65
NORTH YORK, Ont. – The Durham College men’s basketball team recovered from a buzzer beater loss on Tuesday, getting back in the win column with a 72-65 victory over Seneca College in North York.
The Lords jump into second place in the East Region standings with a 6-3 record, while the Sting fall to 5-3 on the year. The standings are very tight with six teams having a .500 or above winning percentage.
Ajax native Tyler McGarrity scored 25 points and added seven rebounds in the win. It seems the forward has fully recovered from his injury that kept him out of two games in November as tonight’s performance was his highest offensive output with the Lords this season.
Eric Smith (Ajax, Ont.) contributed 14 points and eight rebounds in the win while Courtney Small (Oshawa, Ont.) registered ten points and five rebounds. Smith headed into action on Friday sitting third in East Region scoring and fourth in rebounding.
Toronto native Norm Hamilton led Seneca in scoring with 15 points.
The Lords will have back-to-back games next weekend as they take on the St. Lawrence Vikings (4-1) on Friday night in Kingston followed by a home game against Cambrian (2-6) on Saturday, December 5. Tip-off against the Golden Shield at the CRWC is at 3 p.m.
