Sheridan repeats as champions at the Big 8 Classic
OSHAWA, Ont. – In a repeat of last year’s final, the Sheridan Bruins captured the Durham College Big 8 Classic tournament title with an 82-55 win over Fanshawe College.
In the Bruins one sided victory over the Falcons, Donisha Young led the way on the scoresheet draining 26 points in the win. Following the tournament, she was named the championship MVP.
The no. 1 ranked Bruins looked impressive over the two-day tournament knocking off Durham, Jamestown and Fanshawe enroute to the tournament title.
In the consolation final, the Humber Hawks came away with a close 50-44 over the Durham Lords. The Hawks managed to come back in the game against Durham, as the Lords held a ten point lead in the second half.
The Lords advanced to the consolation finals earlier in the day with an impressive 66-34 victory over Tyndale College, which featured every player in the Lords lineup recording points.
