Lords volleyball wraps up action at the Humber Cup
- women’s team upends the top ranked teams in Ontario -

ETOBICOKE, Ont. – The Durham Lords men’s and women’s volleyball teams took part in the Humber Cup Invitational over the weekend in Etobicoke, Ont.

In women’s action, the Lords finished round robin play with a 3-2 record, picking up impressive wins over Humber and Mohawk in round robin play, teams that are one-two in the provincial rankings. Despite the strong performance, Durham would fall one match shy of qualifying for the semi-finals, with all four teams in the opposite pool qualifying for the playoffs.

On the men’s side, Durham struggled to find consistency in their game as they went 1-4 in round robin play, failing to qualify for the playoffs. The Lords lone win came against the Georgian Grizzlies on Saturday afternoon.

When the tournament was all said and done, Humber would end up sweeping the cup winning in both the men’s and women’s championship finals.

The Lords will be back in action on Wednesday night as they travel to Belleville for a match against the Loyalist Lancers. The Lords next home action is on Thursday, November 26 as the Georgians Grizzlies visit the CRWC. First serve for the double header is at 6 p.m.
