Durham College jumps to 5-0 with a win over Fleming

Women’s Volleyball: Durham defeated Fleming 3-0 (25-19, 25-16, 25-13)

OSHAWA, Ont. – The Durham College women’s volleyball team extended their conference winning streak to five games on Tuesday night as they came away with a straight sets victory over Fleming College at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre. Set scores in the match were 25-19, 25-16, 25-13.

The Lords used a balanced scoring attack to pick up the win over Fleming, improving to 5-0 to start the season. Durham is atop of the East Region with the perfect record and is ranked fourth in Ontario.

Captain Mandi Doris (Ajax, Ont.) led Durham on the scoresheet against Fleming with 11 points in the match. She was unstoppable at the net recording nine kills and a block, while picking up an ace. Doris, the OCAA all-time leader in blocks, is once again leading the province in that category with 22 on this season.

Durham teammates Kerri Fotherby (Newcastle, Ont.) and Alison Doris (Ajax, Ont.) also had impressive outings finishing with 10 and eight points respectively.

Durham will now look forward to the Humber Cup in Etobicoke, which is set to take place from November 13-14. Last year, the Lords finished in sixth place at the tournament and hope to improve on that seeding.
