Whitby native to hit the hardwood for the Durham College women's basketball program

Oshawa, Ont. – In preparation for the 2009-10 Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) women's basketball season, the recruiting season is in full force. Durham College head coach Tim Baulk (ChPC) is excited to announce the newest player to join the Lords for the upcoming season; Whitby native Kelsey Hare.

“Kelsey is going to be a great addition to our squad,” said Baulk. “She wants to learn more about the game, she's a hard worker and when it comes right down to it, she can really play the game. That's exactly what we're looking to add to the lineup heading into next season.”

The 5' 8” Hare is a member of the 2008-09 Durham Eclipse U19 Junior Women's Basketball Team that earned a #12 ranking in Ontario. As a member of the Eclipse, she is a smart and athletic shooting guard. Hare played the role of starter for a large portion of the season, including the match-up with the Ottawa Shooting Stars where she picked up her season highs with 16 points and eight rebounds.

Hare played her high school basketball in Whitby with the Sinclair Celtics where she was a four year starter; three with the senior squad and one with the junior team.

Baulk will look to Hare to provide a spark out of the backcourt as she will split time with team MVP Erin Emery (North Bay, Ont.) and second year starter Jessica Newton (Oshawa, Ont.).

The team is looking to have its best season under Baulk as he enters his third season as head coach.
