Nominations open for the Durham College Sports Hall of Fame
OSHAWA, Ont. – Nominations are being sought for the 14th induction of the Durham College Sports Hall of Fame, which is scheduled to take place in November of 2009.
The Hall of Fame honours former student-athletes, coaches and administrators at the institution. There have been 34 individuals honoured at 13 inductions since the Hall of Fame was established in 1997.
Candidates for election will be chosen on the basis of player ability, sportsmanship, character, contribution to their particular sport, the honour brought to Durham College and to sport in general.
“We have had some amazing induction classes since the Hall of Fame was launched in 1997,” said Durham College athletic director Ken Babcock. “With the incredible people we've had involved in Durham College athletics over our 40 year history, this amazing trend will continue.”
The purpose of the Durham College Sports Hall of Fame is to recognize and honour the achievements of Durham College individuals who have attained prominence and distinction in a sport offered at Durham College, and those who have made a major contribution to the development and advancement of athletics at Durham College.
The Hall of Fame also permanently records and gives public prominence to the achievements of such individuals. Nominees in the athlete category must have participated for a minimum of two years and must be a Durham College graduate.

Should you wish to nominate someone, please read the eligibility details listed online and submit the nomination form (attached or online) in accordance with the deadline for nominations. It is preferred that all persons submitting a nomination form include the signatures of the nominator and a member of the selection committee. Completed nomination forms can be mailed to the address shown on the form, or faxed to the Hall of Fame Selection Committee at (905) 721-3117.

The Durham College Sports Hall of Fame officially opened in the spring of 1997 in order to recognize significant achievements and accomplishments of Durham student-athletes, coaches and builders. On behalf of Durham College and the Durham College Athletic Department, we are pleased to announce the formal induction of outstanding individuals into the Durham College Sports Hall of Fame and we salute their many contributions and achievements during their time at Durham.
