Lords take it to Boreal – Seven straight sweeps
Women’s Volleyball: Durham defeated Boreal 3-0 (25-23, 25-21, 25-18)
OSHAWA, Ont. – It was yet another sweep for the Durham College women’s volleyball team on Saturday as they defeated the Boreal Viperes 3-0 at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre. Set scores were 25-23, 25-21 and 25-18.
It was the Lords seventh consecutive straight set win as they improve to 12-1 on the year. They will now look ahead to a first place showdown on Sunday afternoon against the Cambrian Golden Shield (11-2). First serve at the CRWC is at noon.
Kerri Fotherby (Newcastle, Ont.) led Durham in scoring with 15 points, including 11 kills in the win. Samantha Roelofsen (Elma, Ont.) added four kills and four aces for a total of eight points.
Lords setter Meghan Renwick (Brooklin, Ont.) did a good job of distributing the ball as seven players recorded at least three kills. Libero Kourtney Cyr had a team high seven digs for DC.
Mandi Doris (Ajax, Ont.) came one step closer to become the Lords leader in career kills as she is now at 414. Erin Smith is the Durham College all-time leader with 417.
