All Durham College final at the Milan Sports Centre

WOODBRIDGE, Ont. – Two is better than one. That was certainly the case in Woodbridge at the Centennial College women’s indoor soccer tournament as it was all Durham College in the championship match.  In the finals, the Durham College varsity team squared off against the Durham College alumni team. In a very entertaining match-up, the Alumni team managed to score the game’s lone goal with only three minutes left on the clock to win the title and edge out the varsity squad.

The event is the first indoor soccer tournament on this year’s schedule which features the top University and College teams in Ontario. The tournament is used as a tune up for the OCAA regional championship set to take place at the OSA Soccer Centre in Vaughan, Ont. on March 9, 2010.

Durham was perfect leading up to the championship match beating the George Brown Huskies, Georgian Grizzlies and the defending OCAA champion Humber Hawks in the round robin. The Lords went on to defeat Laurier and Georgian in the playoffs before taking on the Alumni squad in the finals.

On the men’s side, Durham College bowed out in the quarter-finals after a hard fought loss to the University of Guelph. In round robin action, the Lords tied RMC, defeated Centennial College and lost to Humber College.

The Lords next action will take place on February 6 at the Queen’s University tournament in Kingston, Ont.
