Lords cannot weather the storm in Ottawa
Men’s Basketball: Algonquin defeated Durham 77-65
OTTAWA – The Durham College men’s basketball team finished 1-1 on their weekend road swing in Ottawa as they fell to the Algonquin Thunder 77-65 on Saturday.
Both teams entered action on a winning note picking up wins on Friday. The Lords defeated La Cite 85-58 while the Thunder upset the previously undefeated Fleming Knights 86-71.
Despite a season high 26 point performance from Oshawa native Courtney Small, the Lords came out on the losing end of a 77-65 decision.
Small finished with a double-double as he recorded ten rebounds in the game. Tyler McGarrity (Ajax, Ont.) and Garbriel Ogunsakin scored 13 points apiece while Eric Smith had nine rebounds in the losing effort.
The top of the OCAA east region standings is stacked with five teams having eight wins or more. The Lords and Thunder both have nine wins this season and are tied for second place, trailing the Knights who are at 12-1.
The Lords will look to get back on the winning track as they return home on Tuesday, January 19 for a game against Centennial College (3-7). Tip-off at the CRWC is at 8 p.m.
