Lords women’s volleyball sweep up the Coyotes
Women’s Volleyball: Durham defeated La Cite (25-16, 25-11, 25-17)
OSHAWA, Ont. – The Durham College women’s volleyball team defeated the La Cite Coyotes in straight sets on Friday night by set scores of 25-16, 25-11 and 25-17.
It was an important night for Lords head coach Shane Christopher as he picked up his 30th conference win in only his second year. The milestone happens the same week former Lords head coach Stan Marchut learned that he was going to be inducted into the Oshawa Sports Hall of Fame.
In the win on Friday night, Kerri Fotherby ( Newcastle, Ont.) continued her fine play as she led Durham with 12 points including 11 kills. Allison and Mandi Doris (Ajax, Ont.) combined for 16 points in the win.
Samantha Roelofsen (Elma, Ont.) and Kourtney Cyr (Uxbridge, Ont.) led the Lords on the defensive side with eight kills apiece.
The Lords now have ten wins in their last eleven games and are 15-2 in conference action this season. Durham is tied for first place with the Trent (15-4) with 30 points, but have two games in hand on the Excalibur.
Durham is right back in action on Saturday, February 6 with a home game against Algonquin College. The first serve is at 12 p.m. at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre.
