Torraville blocks La Cite all night long – Williamson picks up conference win #125
Men’s Volleyball: Durham defeated La Cite 3-0 (25-15, 25-15, 25-8)
OSHAWA, Ont. – The Durham College men’s volleyball team easily defeated the La Cite Coyotes in straight sets on Friday night at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre. Set scores in the one sided affair were 25-15, 25-15 and 25-8.
Setter Jeff Torraville ( Oshawa, Ont.) was a blocking machine as he recorded a season high 10 blocks, three shy of the OCAA single game record. The 6’5 setter also had a great game distributing the ball as six Lords had two or more kills in the match. Jamie Mayer (Pentanguishene, Ont.) and Dave McMann (Elmvale, Ont.) had ten points apiece in the win.
The night was also historic for Durham head coach Gord Williamson, as he picked up his 125th career conference win with the Lords men’s volleyball program. Williamson has a 125-52 record in 13 years with the Lords.
Friday’s win sets up a showdown on Saturday, February 6 at the CRWC with the Algonquin Thunder in town. The two teams are tied with 11-4 records for fourth place in the East region. First serve at the CRWC is at 2 p.m.
