Lords win their tenth match of the year

Men’s Volleyball: Durham defeated Fleming 3-1 (25-11, 25-17, 24-26, 25-19)

PETERBOROUGH, Ont. – The Durham College men’s volleyball team picked up their tenth win this season as they defeated the Fleming Knights 3-1 in Peterborough Tuesday night. Set scores were 25-11, 25-17, 24-26 and 25-19.

Mike Goulding ( Oshawa, Ont.) and Jamie Mayer (Pentanguishene, Ont.) led the Lords combining for 24 points in the win. Goulding picked up 10 kills and three aces while Mayer recorded nine kills and two aces. Jeff Torraville (Oshawa, Ont.) had a great game for Durham in the setter position, keeping the Knights defence in check throughout the match.

The Lords sit in fifth place in the East region standings, trailing Seneca, Trent and Algonquin by just two points. Durham will meet up with Algonquin this Saturday at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre at 2 p.m.

Before their meeting with the Thunder, Durham will host the La Cite Coyotes on Friday, February 5. First serve is at 8 p.m.
