Dominant second half propels Durham College to their third straight win
Men’s Basketball: Durham defeated Cambrian 72-39 (Box Score Attached)
OSHAWA, Ont. – The Durham College men's basketball team held the Cambrian Golden Shield to just 14 second half points as the Lords cruised to their third straight win with a 72-39 victory at the CRWC.
The Lords had an impressive weekend going 2-0 this past week, as they defeated the no. 4 nationally ranked St. Lawrence Vikings on Friday night.
Cambrian had no answer for the Lords defence on Saturday as the green and gold forced 31 turnovers, including eight by Tyler Pelley of Ajax, Ont. The Lords held Cambrian to just 15 field goals in the game, including six in the second half.
The Lords had a well balanced scoring attack with nine players recording points. Eric Smith (Ajax, Ont.) had an impressive outing shooting 7-for-12 from the field for 18 points. Tyler McGarrity (Ajax, Ont.) had 15 points in the win in just over 30 minutes of play.
Durham is 8-3 on the year and have won their last three games. Heading into 2010, all eyes will be on the East Region with six teams sporting a record of above .500. The Lords are currently in second place with 16 points, but have a number of teams chasing them who are close behind.
The Lords will be back in action on January 8 as they take part in the George Brown New Years Classic in Toronto. The Lords enter the tournament as the two-time defending consolation champions.
