Durham College wins big over George Brown

Women’s Volleyball: Durham defeated George Brown 3-0 (25-15, 25-18, 25-18)

OSHAWA, Ont. – The Durham College women's volleyball team opened up their weekend series with a win as they defeated the George Brown Huskies 3-0 in front of a big crowd at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre. Set scores were 25-15, 25-18 and 25-18.

The Lords (7-1) will hit the road for two more games in Ottawa this weekend. On Friday night, Algonquin College (3-5) will host Durham followed by a match against La Cite (4-4) on Saturday.

Durham had a solid effort from the entire lineup on Thursday with 10 players recording points. Team captain Mandi Doris (Ajax, Ont.) led the way with 11 points (10 kills and one block). Samantha Roelofsen (Alma, Ont.) added nine points in the win, while Julie Hakkesteegt (Brighton, Ont.) and Natasha Jakovljevic (Oshawa, Ont.) each had seven points.

Meghan Renwick (Brooklin, Ont.) did a great job distributing the ball from the setter position while chipping in offensively with three kills and three aces.

Kourtney Cyr (Uxbridge, Ont.) led the Lords with six digs in the match. The second year starter is second in the OCAA East Region in digs with 80 on the year

The 3-0 win marks Durham's second straight sweep in conference action and fifth overall of the season.
