Lords to add local hoops product for upcoming season
OSHAWA, Ont. – The Durham College men’s basketball program is looking to add a couple of more pieces to their core veteran squad as the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association season quickly approaches. With that in mind, Lords second year head coach Desmond Rowley is pleased to announce the addition of Oshawa, Ont. native Tyson Eteli to the program for the 2009-10 season.
Eteli last played intercollegiate basketball in high school for G.L. Roberts C.V.I in Oshawa. The 6-foot-3 shooting guard averaged 18 points, eight rebounds and five assists per game over his high school career and was named MVP in his senior season.
“Tyson is a well-rounded basketball player,” said Rowley. “He is going to bring maturity, court sense and a good basketball IQ to our team to replace some of the key players we lost to graduation. I’m really happy to have him join the team.”
Eteli will be enrolled in the Advertising program at Durham College after graduating with a Sports Management Honours Degree from Brock University.
The Lords are coming of a season which saw them finish the regular season with a 16-4 record, their best in over a decade to finish third in the Eastern Conference. The team is looking to replace OCAA all-time leading scorer Anthony Batchelor and 2008-09 team co-captain Evan Browne who were both lost to graduation.
