Lords Women’s Soccer Taking Care of Business in Welland
WELLAND, Ont. – The Lords scored early and often in their exhibition match against Niagara College on Monday night as the Durham College women’s soccer team (1-0 conference, 2-0 overall) cruised to a 7-0 shutout victory.
Freshmen Alyssa Best (Oshawa, Ont.) opened up scoring just two minutes into the game giving the Lords an early 1-0 lead. The floodgates opened from that point on as Durham added three more goals to take a 4-0 lead into halftime. It continued to be all Durham in the second half as the Lords tallied three more goals in the final 45 minutes to win their second overall match of the season.
The one-two punch of Katie Watts (Oshawa, Ont.) and Brittany Micucci (Newmarket, Ont.) was at it again as both players scored two-goals in the match. Goalkeeper Ashley Visser (Uxbridge, Ont.) was in net for the Lords and picked up the clean sheet.
The Lords will get back to regular season action on Saturday, September 13 as they head to Kingston to take on the St. Lawrence Vikings. Kick-off is at 1 p.m. Durham was scheduled to meet up with the Centennial Colts in Scarborough on Wednesday evening, but the game has been rescheduled for October 6.
