Lords Fall Short in Windsor – DC Set to Host Semi-Finals on Saturday

Game One: St. Clair defeated Durham 5-2
Game Two: Durham defeated St. Clair 8-6

Windsor, Ont. – The Durham Lords men’s baseball team wrapped up the regular season portion of their schedule on Sunday afternoon as they went on the road for two games against the St. Clair Saints. With the regular season pennant on the line, the Lords could not come up with a series sweep as the Saints took game one by a score of 5-2 to claim first place. The Lords however did bounce back in game two beating St. Clair 8-6.

The Lords will now play either Queen’s or York next weekend in the best of three CIBA Ontario semi-finals. Durham will host the first two games at Kinsmen Stadium on Saturday, October 4 with a berth in the finals and a rematch with St. Clair on the line. Game times for the doubleheader will be 1 and 3 p.m. If the teams split the doubleheader, they will head to Queen’s/York on Sunday, October 5 for a third and final game.

By winning the regular season pennant, St. Clair will host the winner of the semi-finals on Saturday, October 11 in Windsor. The CIBA Ontario finals will be a best of three series as well. This is St. Clair’s first year in the league.

DURHAM REGULAR SEASON NOTES
- Gary Rose was tied for the best pitching record in Canada with a 4-0 record
- Jareth Vallier led the country in home runs (4) and RBI’s (18)
- Jon Thiebaud led the nation in runs scored with 22 on the season
- Rob McNab led CIBA Ontario in singles (14) and was third in hits (18)
- Tyler Mandzuk finished the year with a .524 batting average, good enough for second place in CIBA Ontario hitting
