Lords Remain Undefeated After a Big Win of the Undefeated

Oshawa, Ont. –
The Durham Lords women’s fastball team continued to roll on Friday tonight as they upended the St. Clair Saints 9-6 to remain in first place of the OCAA standings.

Heading into the night’s action, both teams were undefeated with Durham holding a 4-0 record while St. Clair was at 3-0. After the final pitch was thrown, Durham stands as the only team without a loss as they picked up the three run victory to move to 5-0.

Both teams came out swinging in the game as the teams finished the third inning in a 5-5 tie. In the bottom of the fourth, Durham continued to put on an offensive show as they scored a trio of runs to give them a three run lead. The teams would trade runs in the late stages of the game, but the Saints could not get any more as Durham would hold on for the win.

Karie Neddo (Spencerville, Ont.) improved to 3-0 on the season pitching the complete game for Durham, allowing six runs while striking out two batters. Veteran Carolyn Moore (Oshawa, Ont.) had a great game at the plate going 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBI’s. Erica Dewey (Port Hope, Ont.) also had a great game going 2-for-3 with three runs scored.

The win for Durham extended their winning streak over OCAA opponents to 21 games. Their last loss to a conference opponent was against St. Clair last year in the season opener.

The Lords will take on the Seneca Sting on Thursday, October 2 at Durham Field. The opening game of the doubleheader will begin at 6 p.m.
