DC Open Results – Lords Finish in Second Place
Oshawa, Ont. – The top collegiate golfers were on hand at Lakeridge Links Monday as Durham College hosted the DC Open. The DC Open is one of the largest invitational tournaments on the OCAA golf calendar with 63 golfers participating on 11 teams.
After the scorecards were added up and handed in, it was the 12-time OCAA Champion Humber Hawks taking home the men’s team title, with Durham College finishing only one stroke off the pace.
It was a solid performance by the Lords as they shot consistently all day enroute to the 305 score. Durham’s second team also had a strong performance, finishing in the top five in the standings with a final score of 323.
Brett Pearl (73) of the Hawks edged out Durham’s Rob Lewis (74) by a single stroke to take the individual title. T4. James Hoffman (75) of the Lords also had an impressive round finishing tied for fourth place, shooting his third consecutive round in the 70’s.
On the women’s side, 2007 CCAA National Champion Shauna Wilde of the Humber Hawks shot the low round of the day with a 79.
The Lords will now take part in the Niagara College Invitational at the Grand Niagara Golf Club in preparation for the OCAA Provincial Championship, slated to run from September 29 to October 1 at the Upper Canada Golf Club. The event is hosted by St. Lawrence College (Cornwall).
