Lords Pick Up a Big Win at Seneca College
- Home Opener This Friday Night -

Women’s Fastball: Durham defeated Seneca 10-4

North York, Ont. –
The Durham Lords women’s fastball team (3-0 conference, 4-3 overall) continued their winning ways on Tuesday night as they traveled to North York and defeated Seneca College 10-4.

It was a very close game as Durham held a slim 5-4 lead after six innings, but the Lords exploded in the top half of the seventh for five runs to take a commanding 10-4 lead.

In what was described as a total team effort, the Lords had plenty of production from the entire lineup as almost every player appeared on the offensive scoresheet. Second year short stop Carolyn Moore (Oshawa, Ont.) went 2-for-3 while freshmen Amanda Gruning (Toronto, Ont.), Samantha Roelofsen (Alma, Ont.) and Erin Dewey (Port Hope, Ont.) combined to go for a total of 5-for-9 at the plate.

Defensively, the Lords looked sharp as they turned a number of double plays throughout the game. Pitcher Karie Neddo (Spencerville, Ont.) went the distance for Durham allowing four runs on ten hits while striking out four batters. Neddo is now 2-0 on the season.

The Lords extend their winning streak over OCAA opponents to 17 games, extending back to last season.

Friday night will be a big night for Durham College as it will be the Lords 2008 home opener! Action will begin at 7 p.m. against Mohawk College at Durham Field. President Don Lovisa will be throwing out the traditional first pitch while some familiar faces will be back on campus as former DC fastball players will be taking part in an alumni game at 5 p.m. There will also be a Bar B Q at the game.

The CAN-AM Classic will also be taking place on Saturday and Sunday.
