DC Pulls Through With a 2-1 Victory Against Centennial College
Men's Soccer: Durham defeated Centennial 2-1
Oshawa, Ont. – The Durham Lords men’s soccer team (2-1 conference, 3-1 overall) pulled out a big win on Tuesday night as they defeated the Centennial Colts 2-1 in front of a big crowd at Vaso’s field.
With the Lords up 2-1 at the 65 minute mark, Durham freshman Jordan Reeve (Pickering, Ont.) picked up a red card after his elbow came up and struck a Centennial opponent. This clash seemed to spark both teams as their intensity picked up while the crowd became more passionate.
Playing short handed for the remainder of the game, the Durham defense, led by 2006 CCAA-Canadian Trevor Delpippo (Whitby, Ont.), stepped up their game and prevented the Colts from picking up the equalizer. Lord’s goalkeeper Andrew MacLeod (Oshawa, Ont.) looked strong between the pipes making key saves as the Lords secured the one goal victory.
Nick Zdravkovski (Bowmanville, Ont.) opened up scoring for Durham at the 28 minute mark while Reeve recorded his second goal of the season six minutes into the second half. Leon Pryce scored Centennial’s lone goal on a header at the 60 minute mark.
Durham is now 2-1 in conference action and sit in first place in the Central East region with six points on the season. The team will now travel to Ottawa for a road-trip against the La Cite Coyotes and Algonquin Thunder before heading home to take on the Seneca Sting on Wednesday, September 24 at 8 p.m.
