Comeback win for DC to Start Off Men’s Baseball Nationals!

National Championship Game One – Durham defeated Atlantic Baptist University 4-3

Montreal, Ont. –
The Durham Lords got off to a great start at the CIBA National Championship in Montreal on Friday as they defeated Atlantic Baptist University 4-3 in the first game of the round robin.

As it has been for the last few weeks, it was another nail biter for DC as the Lords were down 3-2 in the bottom of the 6th inning. Sam Dempster’s club would dig down deep as the came up with two big runs in the inning to give them a 4-3 lead in the game.

That is all starting pitcher Julian Daligadu would need as he slammed the door shut on ABU during the final inning as he recorded two strikeouts and a routine fly ball to end the game. Daligadu would finish the day with nine strikeouts. Stewart Langille of ABU also had a strong day on the mound matching Daligadu’s strikeout total of ten in the losing effort.

Durham will look to advance to the championship round with a win on Saturday. The Lords will finish up round robin action on Saturday with two games on the day, facing CIBA Ontario rival St. Clair College as well as the hosting McGill Redbirds.
