Lords Men’s Volleyball Lose a Thriller at Trent University
Men’s Volleyball: Trent defeated Durham 3-1 (27-25, 23-25, 27-25, 31-29)
Peterborough, Ont. – Trent University and Durham College played an even game on Wednesday night in OCAA men’s volleyball conference action. In what was a see-saw match, it was the Excalibur who would end up with the “W” as they defeated the Lords by a score of 3-1.
Every set win for Trent on the night came in extra points, with the last set being a score of 31-29. The Lords lone win on the night came in the second set as they won 25-23.
The duo of Chris Ferguson-Martin and Michael Peers were too tough to handle for the Lords defence as they each recorded 16 point matches for the Excalibut.
Leading the way for Durham was Jamie Mayer (Penetanguishene, Ont.). The third year starter recorded a game high 17 points, including 14 kills, two aces and one block. Mayer leads the East Region in kills with 27 on the season. Mike Goulding and Dave McMann also had impressive outings combining for 20 points in the match.
Durham will now turn their attention to the Killer Instinct Cup which set to take place from October 24-25 at the CRWC. A full tournament schedule can be found online at www.durhamlords.com/tournaments/mvb-killer.htm.
