The Stars are ready to shine on OCAA All-Star Saturday
– OCAA Basketball All-Star Games set to go on March 28th at Durham College -
Oshawa, Ont. - Ontario Basketball All-Stars from across the province will be gathering at the Durham College Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre on Saturday, March 28, 2009 to participate in the 22nd annual Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) Basketball All-Star Games.
The all-stars will be “thinking pink” for the event, as it will be in support of the THINK PINK initiative, helping create awareness and raise funds for the Canadian Breast Cancer Society.
Over 150 athletes from 20 colleges across Ontario will be participating in this year’s event. The day will tip-off with the OCAA Co-Ed 2-ball competition at 3:30 p.m. Players will then amaze fans from long range during the Coca-Cola 3-Point Competition set to take place at 4:30 p.m. The main event will feature the 22nd edition of the All-Star games, with the women’s game tipping off at 6 p.m. followed by the men’s game at 8:15 p.m.
Fans will be sitting on the edge of their seats the entire day as the All-Star Committee has planned a number of special guests to entertain the crowd. There will be musical entertainment prior to and during each game as well as a performance from the Oshawa Hawkeyes Cheerleading team and the UOIT Ridgebacks Dance Pack.
The best mascots from around the province will entertain fans between games as the 11th annual best mascot competition is set to take place. Fans in attendance will also have an opportunity to win up to $5,000 in the OCAA Boston Pizza Shoot for Cash Contest.
“We are always looking forward to All-Star Saturday on campus at Durham College!” said Ken Babcock, Durham College Athletic Director. “If you are a basketball fan, Durham College is the place to be as All-Star Saturday is always a packed house with great action taking place! The event will feature the top basketball players across the province. We look forward to having members of the community come out to support the players as well as a cause as important as Breast Cancer society.”
