Durham College men’s basketball nationally ranked!!!
Oshawa, Ont. – The Durham College men’s basketball program is back in the national spotlight as they entered the Canadian Colleges Athletic Association (CCAA) national rankings, just announced today. The Lords sit in the 14th position nationally, and have jumped ahead to the fourth position in the Ontario charts, their highest ranking of the year.
In his first year as the Lords head coach, Desmond Rowley has his team on an eight game conference winning streak and are battling it out for top spot of the competitive East Region with a 12-3 conference record. The team has been unstoppable at the CRWC this year as they hold a home court record of 7-0, having outscored their opponents 602-492.
Although the team is riding high right now, they realize that a lot of work still needs to be done in order to achieve their goals. Algonquin (13-2), Fleming (13-2) Durham (12-3) and St. Lawrence (11-2) all have a shot at winning the East region title, and the top two teams will receive automatic byes to the quarter-finals.
On Wednesday, February 4, DC will travel to Kingston for an important match up against St. Lawrence College at 8 p.m. With a win, the Lords would sweep the season series over the Vikings, earning them an important tie-breaker that may be useful following the conclusion of the regular season.
The Lords next home action is on Friday, February 6 against the La Cite Coyotes. Game time at the CRWC is at 8 p.m.
