Indoor soccer season kicks off at Centennial College

This past weekend, the Durham Lords Men’s and Women’s indoor soccer teams attended the OCAA’s first indoor soccer tournament at Centennial College.

The Women’s team, as reigning champs, beat Georgian College 5-1 in their first game of the day, and later defeated St. Lawrence College 5-1 as well. The team then tied with George Brown College with a score of 2-2, and took their first loss of the day against the Humber Alumni by a score of 3-1. The team finished the round robin with a 2-1-1 record and made it through to the quarter-finals where they played Redeemer. The Lords got back to their winning ways and won by a final score of 3-0. In the semi-finals however, the Lords were eliminated by the eventual tournament champions Humber College by a final score of 3-0.

The Men’s team finished 0-2-1 in round robin play, playing against some tough opponents. In their first game against Humber College (the eventual tournament champions), the Lords took a loss of 1-0.Later, they tied with Conestoga College 1-1. Unfortunately, the team then lost again to the defending OCAA Champion Redeemer Royals by a score of 2-1.

The indoor soccer teams resume tournament action on February 14, 2009 at Sheridan College.
