OCAA Volleyball Championships around the corner

Oshawa, Ont. – Only eight teams remain alive in OCAA men’s and women’s volleyball, all sharing the common goal of advancing to the OCAA Championships being hosted by Durham College from February 27-28, 2009 at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre.

After a busy weekend of volleyball in the OCAA qualifying round, the remaining eight teams will take part in the quarter finals this weekend, with the winners advancing to the final four championships in Oshawa.

The Durham Lords men’s and women’s teams each picked up 3-0 sweeps over their opponents at home this past weekend and will hit the road for the quarter finals. The men’s team will travel to Hamilton to take on the Mohawk Mountaineers of Friday, February 20 at 7 p.m. while the women’s team will take on Nipissing University of Saturday, February 21 at 12 p.m. The Lords are against some tough competition as the Mountaineers are the defending OCAA champions while the Lakers are the defending OCAA silver medalists.
