Durham College easily defeats Centennial in Exhibition Action

Women’s Basketball: Durham defeated Centennial 72-27

Oshawa, Ont. – The Durham College women’s basketball team defeated the Centennial Colts in exhibition action on Tuesday night by a final score of 72-27.

The Lords had plenty of standouts in the one-sided victory. Freshman Sarah Lemaire (Bainsville, Ont.) dominated the boards the entire night as she recorded a season high 18 rebounds. Overall, the Lords won the rebound battle 61-37 over Centennial.

Laura Tomek (Blenheim, Ont.) scored a team high 21 points for the Lords, while Erin Emery (North Bay, Ont.) scored 20 points with 12 rebounds and six steals. Also picking up a double-double was Jill Leistra (Chatham, Ont.) who scored 16 points and added ten rebounds and four steals. Leistra had an impressive night shooting from the field going 8-for-13.

Shivon Witter scored a team high nine points in the game for Centennial.

The Lords will look to make it two in a row on Friday, February 13 as they take on the Fleming Knights (0-12) at 6 p.m. The game will be the Lords final home game of the season.
